Russia can be the only real guarantor of Ukraine's sovereignty.

According to APA's Moscow correspondent, Russian President Vladimir Putin said this at the plenary session of the Valday Discussion Club.

According to him, Russia, which created Ukraine, is the real guarantor of this country's sovereignty.

According to Putin, Ukraine has historically developed as an artificial state.

He noted that after World War II, Joseph Stalin took part of the territories of Poland, Hungary and Romania and gave them to Ukraine.

At the same time, the President of the Russian Federation said that the Russian and Ukrainian peoples are one - "this is a historical fact," Putin said.

According to him, what is happening between Russia and Ukraine today can be considered a civil war.
